Does heartburn decrease once the baby has dropped?

heartburn
Jeniflen – Proud Mama questioned:

I was told it would but my baby dropped weeks ago and I’ve been getting worse heartburn now than I have had throughout my pregnancy.
I wish he would be born already….But I know he will come when he’s fully cooked.

  • yes it does decrease

  • Some people find it does…mine always just kept getting worse until the very end, like you.

    Don’t worry – delivery is a surefire cure! :)

  • I suppose for some lucky women out there yes…. in my case no…. my heartburn hasn’t let up in the least bit.

  • It should. What causes the heartburn is the baby taking up all that room in your abdomen and other organs get went up and shift so when you eat, the food naturally has less places to go. (its not caused by hairy babies) When the baby drops further into your pelvis it alleviates some of the pressure and the heartburn.

  • I have been told that my baby has dropped (I’m 38 weeks pregnant) and I still have hearburn.

I want to know…does heartburn end immediately after birth? If so, can someone take my kid out now?

  • I had heartburn from the time I was 3 months pregnant & was still asking for heartburn medicine just before I went in for my c-section, but my son is nearly 5 months & I have not had heartburn since. All the best

  • Mine never did. It was dreadful up until the day I gave birth. Excellent luck!

  • my heartburn didnt decrease till birth,oh the relief!

  • Not for me. lol

  • If your’s haven’t then apparently not. Heartburn is common in pregnancy because the membrane between your stomach and esphogus is more relaxed…not because your belly is being pushed upwards to make room for baby. That’s why women can have heartbun their entire pregnancy…and some other’s never get it at all.

Sorry…I have heartburn all the time as well (even when I only drink water which confuses the heck out of me) BUT it will go away eventually. Just keep popping the tums.

  • as the baby moves down this should take some pressure off your diaphram so you should start to have less heart burn. I have it less but still get it

  • My heartburn lasted right through delivery. It was so terrible during labor that they gave me some liquid meds for it. Then when I was pushing it got terrible again so they gave me more. Which made me sick and I threw up between pushes. Once I threw up I was all better.

Chew up 2-3 Tums several times a day. It was a life saver for me, and an added calcium boost.

  • My friend had heart burn all through her pregnancy and it was due to the fact that her baby had a lot of hair. I’m not sure of the correaltion, but if your baby has a lot of hair I don’t reckon the drop down is gonna make it any better!

  • i was told my baby has dropped & I am even dialated & I still have the worse heartburn ever…….& TUMS just make me mad :) They don’t work & I eat them like I breathe

  • I had heartburn terrible during my fist pregnancy, but it has been worse during my second. All of a sudden my heartburn has gone away and I don’t know why? During my first, the heartburn did not go away until the baby was out. People say I look very low but I still have a month and a half to go! I reckon it will be different for everyone.
