I have a hiatal hernia and GERD and take prilosec, which is working great.

I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice for drinking alcohol with these problems. I know you aren’t supposed to drink if you have these conditions, and i rarely do…about once a month. It would be nice to actually go out with people for once and enjoy getting a bit drunk and NOT puking up the next day. Does anyone have any tips? Is there a certain kind of alcohol I should drink that might be less bad? I just want to enjoy one night out…Thank you in advance!

I went Vegan for 2 months then I noticed I was frying all my foods and not eating correctly giving me GERD. I’m starting to eat meat again as I know I need it in my diet. I ate 2 roasted thighs this morning and then a couple hours later at work I had a major excruciating episode of GERD. I was grabbing my chest at my desk and i had to run out of work, I went to the ER and then before I went into the building it went away. How can I stop the episode from happening when it starts? I really didn’t want to leave work. I have been struggling with this for 2 months I am 24 years young. I cut out fried foods completey, anything greasy, and I don’t eat sweet, drink caffeine, or anything acidic. I need help. I can’t see a doctor til December becauset that’s when my health kicks in. I need help.

I am completely on recomended diet, no non vez, no spices, no oilly food, no tomato and no chilly. For the past three months I have experienced acid coming back up to my throat. Some days I feel bloated and burp a lot. I have quit drinking and changed my diet. Recently, I started the Alkaline diet. It seemed to work at first but today it came back. I usually feel better when I lay down which is opposite of what everyone else says. I wake up feeling great but after I eat something it comes back. I have been taking omaprazole and it doesn’t seem to do much. Not sure what I have. I’m living in Japan so going to the doctor is difficult, I can’t find one that speaks good English, that is why I am here. They keep saying GERD but I’m not sure. Thanks for any help! I need it!!!

I have gerd. I’ve never actually went to a regular doctor but have been in and out of emergency rooms for about 6 years. About 5 years ago, one of the times I had went, the ER doctor told me he thought I had acid reflux. For the longest time I took ranitidine and it worked well. When I lost a lot of weight and was down to 118 I hardly ever had problems. But now, in the past year it seems to be worse. What is really weird to me is it seems it has gotten alot worse since I’ve quit smoking and drinking sodas all together. I thought that I would feel better. My chest hurts and burns at least everyday at some point. I burp alot and can feel a bubbling coming up my chest. I also feel some pain in my arms. I’m just assuming I don’t have any heart problems since I had a chest x-ray done in March and the doctor didn’t say anything was wrong. He did say I had a big ball of gas in my stomach. I do have anxiety so when it does get worse I tend to panic. Does anyone get the same symptoms?

He said it sounded like GERD and gave me some prilosec to treat it. I been taking it for two weeks, the chest pain subsides a little but not completely, then my throat feels tight for the rest of the time. Then i start to feel anemic from the medicine.

How long does this medicine take? I am worried..

i have all 3. i had to go get my food hole (cant spell esphcasis right) strentched because the acids were splashing up so much that i was coughing and choking alot. i watch my diet very closely and take protonic daily. also tums when i have a bad day. now after 3 months i am choking several times a day, pain and dont eat. its such a pain in the ****. any idea to help me
