My son has GERD, pretty severely although doing MUCH MUCH better. Except for 3 days ago. The past 3 days he has been extremely cranky most of the time, spits out his Zantac and spitting up so much to the point where I go through at least 5 outfits in one day (even with a bib on). I feel so bad for him because it doesnt seem like it bothers him when he spits up but the after-effect of it is what seems to bother him. He has been on Soy for the past two months and was just switched to a regular milk based formula today (which still, the spit up was less than the past 2 days. it slightly died down). He has his great days and then he has once a week maybe, a bad day with a lot of spit up.
Now, I know the Zantac doesnt take away the spit up and will help with the cranky-ness.
Has anyone been in this situation before, where your baby has been doing great with their GERD and then all the sudden has a few bad days?
How do you handle it?? —- I got so upset and tired from being up with him that I had to have my mom take him for a night because I was over-tired and making stupid mistakes with things (ie i spilled his bottle everywhere…just stupid stuff LOL). That, in turn made me feel like a TERRIBLE MOTHER.
Any suggestions on what I can do to make him feel better in the meantime until this passes?
OK people- he went to the doctor today before I even asked this question. I asked the doctor all the same questions but I was looking from experiences of other people what might make him more comfortable. And for the one who asked thank you for the suggestion of checking to see if his dose needed to be increased and she did increase it. But I have asked the questions to the doctor and I know he is just having a few bad days with it….
